Overview
FinTrack ("we", "us", or "our") is designed to be a premium, local-first income and expense tracking application. We respect your privacy and believe that your financial data is personal, sensitive, and should belong entirely to you.
This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application handles user data, how local storage is utilized, and the integration of third-party services like Google Drive backup.
Data Collection & Local Storage
FinTrack is a local-first application. We do not host or operate servers that collect, store, or transmit your financial transaction records.
All database elements you record in the application (including transactions, bills, reminders, categories, and account configurations) are stored **locally** on your physical device using secure SQLite storage. This data is not accessible by us or any external third parties unless you explicitly export it.
Google Drive Backup Integration
To prevent data loss, FinTrack offers an optional backup and restore feature using Google Drive. If you choose to enable this feature:
- Authentication: The app utilizes Google Sign-In to securely authenticate you directly with Google's servers.
- Data Scope: We only request authorization for the
drive.filescope. This grants FinTrack permission to create and edit only the specific backup files generated by the application. We cannot view, access, or modify any other files or folders in your Google Drive. - File Location: The SQLite database is exported, encoded, and uploaded directly to a dedicated, private folder (
FinTrack Backup) in your personal Google Drive account. - Zero Server Transmission: The backup transfer occurs entirely peer-to-peer between your mobile device and Google's servers. No copy of your database, credentials, or access tokens is ever transmitted to us or any secondary server.
Local Notifications
FinTrack uses local notifications on your device to trigger reminders for upcoming bills and payments. These notifications are scheduled, processed, and shown entirely offline by your device's operating system. No remote push notification servers, external brokers, or analytics systems are involved.
Your Rights & Data Deletion
Since your data resides entirely on your device and your personal Google Drive storage, you have absolute control over your information:
- On-Device Data: You can completely erase your data by clearing the app's cache/data or by uninstalling the application from your device.
- Backup Data: You can delete your backup at any time by accessing your Google Drive account, locating the
FinTrack Backupfolder, and deleting the files directly, or by signing out from Google Drive within the app.
